NCAA: Irish scofflaws will play in opener

Kelly said athletic department policy states that the first marijuana offense is an educational process and he has never suspended a player for a first offense. He said the school still could discipline the players.

Auburn defensive back Stephen Roberts won’t play against No. 2 Clemson following his arrest on two misdemeanor charges.

Tigers coach Gus Malzahn said Roberts is suspended for Saturday night’s opener. After that, Malzahn said Roberts’ status will be week to week.

Baylor receiver Ishmael Zamora has been suspended for three games after video showed him beating his dog, the team announced.
