Tim Tebow scouting report

-

The Post’s Ken Davidoff evaluates Tim Tebow’s performance at his baseball tryout Tuesday in Los Angeles: 60-yard dash: Scouts timed him in the range of 6.65-6.81. Very good for someone of his size, average overall for a baseball player. Grade: B+

Throws: Stationed in right field, Tebow made three throws apiece to second base, third base and home plate. The relays to third were mediocre. Two of his throws home were solid, reaching the catcher on a clean bounce. The other was off line. Grade: B

Fielding: Tebow shifted over to center field and fielded fly balls. He wasn’t helped by the gentleman who hit the fungoes, as several fell well in front of Tebow. Both his routes and his catches were notably awkward. He didn’t seem to have a good feel for the ball and didn’t look comfortable snaring it — though, as one scout noted, he did catch everything in his reach. Grade: CBatting practice: Tebow used this exercise to display his impressive power. He crushed eight home runs in about 15 minutes, and many of the round-trippers would have landed well out of play in a big-league ballpark. Grade: ALive pitching: Against former big leaguers Chad Smith and David Aardsma, with both trying to get Tebow out, he struggled mightily. He made really good contact only twice and mostly hit grounders and fouled balls off. Grade: D
