YANKEES: Cessa became the second Yankees pitcher since 2004 to win each of his first two career starts, joining Shane Greene (July 7 & 12, 2014). He is the first pitcher since Greene to complete at least six innings in each of his first two career starts. Twelve of the 15 runs Cessa has allowed this season have come via the home run.

ROYALS: Kennedy will be looking for his fourth straight victory after beating the Red Sox on Friday. He allowed two runs on nine hits over 5 1/3 innings while striking out eight. It was Kennedy’s sixth straight start allowing two runs or less. In two career starts against the Yankees, the team that drafted him in the first round of the 2006 draft, he is 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA.
