Hofstra ‘spel’ check
Give Hofstra University an “F” for spelling. The Long Island college forgot an “L” in Hillary when it printed souvenir tickets for Monday night’s presidential debate on its campus, where Clinton faced Donald Trump.
The tickets issued to 350 students attending the first presidential debate were actually mementos rather than ducats and will be replaced, a representative for the school said.
“These tickets are not official tickets to the debate. They were printed at the last minute to create a souvenir for the students. We’ll be reprinting them for all those who won tickets,” Hofstra spokeswoman Karla Schuster told WNBC-TV.
She didn’t explain who was responsible for the goof.
The real tickets did not include the candidates’ names.
Roughly 7,500 students took part in a lottery for a chance to score admission to the showdown.
Hofstra was chosen to host the debate after Wright State University in suburban Dayton, Ohio, backed out, citing rising security costs.
But Hofstra had experience, having hosted presidential debates in 2008 and 2012.
