GIANTS NOTES

Waller said each team usually has about 3,000 of their own fans making the trip from the United States. Twickenham Stadium is considered the “cathedral of rugby’’ and has a seating capacity of 82,000. Modifications needed to stage an NFL game has reduced the capacity to 75,000 for Giants-Rams in the first ever NFL game at the venue. The game is a sellout.

Before a rugby match at Twickenham, the locals traditionally sing “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot’’, the unofficial anthem of English rugby.

“I have no idea whether that will happen,’’ Waller said. “That’s definitely a feature of the rugby games.’’

One thing Waller is fairly certain of: Odell Beckham Jr. will be the most popular attraction.

“He’s big wherever he goes,’’ said Waller, who grew up in Wales. “He came over in the summer, U.K. and Germany, he was very visible and very popular and I’m sure he’ll do the same’’

Josh Brown is gone, but the season moves on and the Giants need a new kicker, which is why Robbie

Gould took a call from the Giants on Thursday, boarded an eight-hour flight from Chicago, arrived in London Friday and signed as their new kicker.

“When you get a call like this from an organization like this, it’s hard to say no to,’’ Gould said. “When you get the call, you’re excited and excited about the opportunity to come in here and help the team win.”

Gould for the past 11 years helped the Bears win as the most accurate kicker in their franchise history — and the 10th most accurate kicker in NFL history. He was cut by the Bears in early September and has been waiting ever since. He will be the third kicker used this season by the Giants.

Long snapper Zack DeOssie was listed as questionable with an ankle injury but he will be able to play, as the Giants did not sign Tyler Ott, a long snapper off the practice squad.
