Nightlife guru grows up

-

NIGHTLIFE guru Sam Nazarian is shifting his focus from clubs to hotels. On Tuesday, he celebrated the opening of his East 29th Street property, the Redbury, built around Danny Meyer’s restaurant Marta. Meyer was the star attraction at the soiree, which had over 1,100 guests. “Strangers kept asking [Meyer] to take selfies. He seemed surprised,” a spy said. Brendan Fallis DJ’d and Colony House performed. “Nightclubs are still a part of [Sam’s] world, but he got married last year and has grown up and now he’s focused on expanding . . . He wants to take the throne from André Balazs and Ian Schrager,” a guest said. Nazarian and his company SBE will open a second New York hotel, SLS, in a few months. He’s also been in talks to acquire Morgans Hotel Group since 2015.
