Clinton ex-aide: Trump Backers Aren’t All Extremist

Former Clinton White House special counsel Lanny Davis says he’s “becoming nervous” that Democrats and Clinton backers are conflating Donald Trump’s more extreme followers with “anyone who supports Trump.” Writing at Fox News, he says he is “hearing more and more instances of the public shaming of anyone who is a Trump supporter or donor,” even if they disavow extremist rhetoric. He’s also hearing “about thoughtful, non-bigoted people who are for Trump [but] who have become fearful of wearing a Trump button in public or admitting their political preferences to friends, at dinner parties or at work” out of a fear he likens to the McCarthy era.
