Picasso’s Studio 54 flashback

-

THE world’s top art figures celebrated Art Basel Miami Beach at Aby Rosen’s exclusive party — where even iconic Paloma Picasso danced with others on top of a banquette till 1:30 a.m.

Paloma — the 67-year-old daughter of the famed artist Pablo Picasso and Françoise Gilot — was a former staple at New York’s Studio 54 with Andy Warhol, and on Thursday night the French-born member of international art royalty was seen getting down during a surprise performance by rapper Gucci Mane, cooling herself with an elegant red fan.

At the packed party at Wall nightclub, Paloma told us: “This is as good as Studio 54! It is a great time.” The Tiffany jewelry designer celebrated with younger members of the Picasso family, all in town for Art Basel. She was also surrounded by Paris Hilton and Princess Eugenie, who’s an associate director at gallery Hauser & Wirth, plus curator Jeffrey Deitch, newlywed collectors Tico and Colby Mugrabi, auctioneer Simon de Pury, and billionaires such as Richard and Karen LeFrak and Google’s Eric Schmidt.

Earlier in the night, collector and property mogul Rosen and his wife, Samantha Boardman, hosted their annual hot-ticket dinner at the Dutch for VIPs including Alex Rodriguez, Elle Macpherson and Jeff Soffer, Karolina Kurkova, Calvin Klein, Blaine Trump, Julie Macklowe and art dealer Helly Nahmad.

Also there were Amy Sacco, Guy Oseary, Bronson van Wyck, Maria Bell, Maryna Linchuk, Sante D’Orazio, Ronnie Madra, Allison Sarofim, Nellee Hooper, Klaus Biesenbach and Nick Acquavella.

Many of the big names came directly to the annual after-party next door at Wall, co-hosted by Vito Schnabel, Stavros Niarchos and Dom Pérignon, where in-demand Mane — released from prison this year — performed three songs including his verses from the hit “Black Beatles.” Also seen dancing nearby Paloma were Iran’s Princess Noor Pahlavi, model Shanina Shaik, actress Rosario Dawson, artist Mr. Brainwash, Claudine De Niro, White Cube’s Jay Jopling and Asia Chow.
