The Rise of Keith Ellison: Democrats Lurching Left

-

If the Democrats select Rep. Keith Ellison as chairman of the Democratic National Committee, they might as well just rename the party the Democratic Socialist Party (“Democrats’ Leadership Dilemma,” Post Editorial, Dec. 1).

Not only is Ellison a carbon copy of Bernie Sanders, this guy even voted against emergency-aid funding for the Iron Dome defense shield for Israel during the height of the 2014 conflict with Hamas in Gaza. That shield is also absolutely crucial given the fact that President Obama’s Iranian nuclear deal poses an existential threat to Israel. James Hyland Beechhurst

Will anyone else in the media report who Ellison is and the views he supports and represents?

The media constantly manufacture outrage over every single sneeze from Donald Trump, yet no one in the media finds it newsworthy that an anti-Semitic radical like Ellison is on the verge of taking control of the DNC.

Even worse, a supposedly staunchly pro-Israel senator, Chuck Schumer, is supporting him.

What deal was made there? The Democratic Party is turning into a radical outfit. More people should be talking about this. Matthew Toboroff Manhattan

President Obama has shown his pragmatic and realistic approach to politics as he refuses to endorse Ellison as Democratic National Committee chairman.

Meanwhile, numerous Democratic leaders, including Sen. Schumer, have been eager to placate their electorates by supporting the appointment of Ellison.

The rise of Ellison, a man who has repeatedly shown bias, further demonstrates that the Democratic Party no longer supports Israel in its continuing conflict with the Palestinians. Nelson Marans Manhattan
