WHACK BACK AT VAC

-

Jackie Bee: The Jets have been doing the mannequin act for most of the season.

Vac: That one was out there for anyone to hit, but Jackie was the one who took the big hack at the dead-red fastball.

Joe Amato: I don’t like the use of Odell Beckham Jr. as a punt returner. Years ago Jim Fassel put Jason Sehorn in as a kick returner in the preseason against the Jets, and he blew out his leg and his career was essentially over. You want that look in the playoffs? Maybe. But there are too many “Josh Normans” out there on special teams that would love to take out Beckham.

Vac: People tend to forget just how great Sehorn was before that ill-fated incident. There is

no way on earth I’d ever have Beckham on specials. None.

@EvilBeavis: With all the problems Barclays Center has had (bad ice, attendance, players and fans hate it) do you think the chances of the Islanders going back to the Coliseum have improved?

@MikeVacc: Put it this way, and I hope I’ m just being overly cynical, but I certainly hope so. Because if not, I fear they’ ll be in Quebec City or Kansas City before too long.

Dave Esop: I read some time ago that of all the characters on TV who were sportswriters, in this writer’s opinion (I don’t remember who it was, for all I know it may even have been you), Oscar Madison comes the closest to an accurate depiction of the life of a sportswriter. What do YOU think? Vac: Agreed. He get son airplanes (unlike Ray Bar one, who rarely— if ever— left his basement). He always has a bunch of freelance projects working. He tends to err on the side of a good time. And I know this: I could use a Myrna as an assistant.
