Tyreek havoc

- By BART HUBBUCH

With all the backstories, injuries and developments in a given week in the NFL, it is tough to know what to look for Sunday. Here are five things to watch:

Chiefs rookie sensation

Tyreek Hill quickly is proving to be a nightmare for opponents — and for the NFL’s reputation.

A fifth-round pick last April, Hill was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week after catching nine passes and scoring three touchdowns in Kansas City’s thrilling (and crucial) overtime win against the Broncos.

That was hardly a surprise to anyone who has watched Hill rank among the league leaders in points scored with five receiving touchdowns, one rushing TD and a return TD in the 8-3 Chiefs’ first 11 games.

But Hill remains an image problem for the NFL after choking his pregnant girlfriend while in college at Oklahoma State, which in addition to legal punishment resulted in him having to transfer to Division II West Alabama.

For a league beset by domestic-violence woes in recent years, the NFL doesn’t quite know what to do with Hill. The league hasn’t gone out of its way to promote Hill’s accomplishments so far, apparently biding its time in the hope the court-mandated classes and therapy Hill is undergoing shows results before his on-field success becomes too much to downplay.

The NFL might not be able to wait much longer. Heading into Sunday’s visit to the Falcons, Hill leads the league in punt-return yards (375) and is averaging a hefty 28.5 yards per kickoff return.
