Cruz is planning to meet with Mac

- By PAUL SCHWARTZ

The day after one of the most difficult nights of his NFL life with the Giants, Victor Cruz insisted, “I’m not angry, I’m not a disgruntled employee.’’

Cruz, speaking Monday morning to NFL Network, explained why he sounded and appeared so visibly upset after he was not targeted with a single pass in a 24-14 loss to the Steelers at Heinz Field on Sunday. Cruz walked briskly out of the visitors’ locker room intent on not speaking to anyone, but stopped for a brief time after he was followed by a few members of the media.

Clearly shaken and holding himself back, Cruz said, “Somebody got to give me an answer as to why’’ no passes from Eli Manning came his way.

After a short flight home and a night’s sleep, Cruz reiterated his frustration in a more thoughtful manner.

“After the game obviously I was a little angry, so some of the comments stemmed from anger,’’ Cruz said. “But I didn’t say anything bad. But just out of anger, you know you just lost the game, you want to contribute and honestly, I just want to go out there and contribute. And we’ll see how it goes [Tuesday] when I step into work and have a conversation with Coach [Ben] McAdoo, which I plan on doing.’’

McAdoo said the door to his office is always open, if Cruz wants to talk.

“When you have been as inconsistent as we have been on offense it’s a challenge,’’ McAdoo said. “Victor, like everybody else, including myself, we want to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.’’

McAdoo said Jason Pierre-Paul, who played only 32-of-73 defensive snaps because of a groin pull, is still being evaluated. DT Johnathan Hankins is sore with a quad contusion. WR Dwayne Harris has an ankle injury. Running back Shane Vereen practiced last week, but has yet to be activated off injured reserve. Vereen is coming back from surgery to repair a torn triceps.
