Blue-collar workers everywhere should prepare effigies of Jeff Bezos for a ceremonial inferno: That’s because Amazon’s supermarket of the future will lack cashiers (“Groceries ’bot and paid for,” Dec. 6).
Personally, I can’t wait. Robot grocery baggers won’t mindlessly discuss the weather or make small talk as I anxiously wait to remove my chip card. Let’s welcome our mechanical friends with open, human arms.
These robots are hardworking immigrants striving for a rightful piece of the American dream. They will be our neighbors, colleagues and possibly lovers.

The Post’s story about Amazon and Uber’s automation plans clearly signal the need for a radical shift in economic policy in the United States.
What will come of the millions of people whose jobs are threatened by automation?
We must provide a universal basic minimum income, funded largely by taxes on the companies implementing this automation and the investors profiting off it.
If we fail to do so, expect to see an entire generation lose any hope of becoming, or remaining, part of the middle class.
