‘Mozart’ actor draws inspirational story about same-sex parenting

- By DAVID KAUFMAN

THE third season of Amazon’s “Mozart in the Jungle” dropped last week, and Sandro Isaack is comfortably back in his role as Pavel, the Slavic stagehand and paramour of Bernadette Peters.

But behind the scenes, the New York-based Brazilian actor is a champion of samesex parenting.

“My goal is not to be political, but merely to show these families as a natural part of everyday life,” Isaack tells The Post.

Which is why the multitalented actor’s new passion project is “Ava: The Lucky Girl With Two Dads,” his cartoon series that’s in development. The series will feature a precocious second-grader happily living with her two fathers and focused on a quest to become America’s first female president — or, at least, the president of her class. Ava was born of the belief that “too many children of samegender couples are watching cartoons from a borrowed universe, or a universe that doesn’t fully embrace their reality,” Isaack, 43, wrote on a Kickstarter page that raised money for the project. “It’s time to introduce kids to a cartoon that features same-gender couples and their kids as a natural part of life.”

The series is an extension of his 2010 illustrated kids’ book, “Stork M.I.A.,” which featured Ava’s two dads before she was born. It’s also a way to add to the LGBT dialogue in a country still grappling with tolerance and acceptance.

“I want these stories to speak to LGBT families, LGBT teens — anyone who’s ever felt out of place,” Isaack says. “I want them to know that there is a future for them.”
