Hedge big $macked over ‘brawl’

-

A former Goldman Sachs director who now runs the $4 billion hedge fund Knight Capital Management is being sued after allegedly walloping a marketing executive in the face at a swanky Manhattan bar owned by Rande Gerber.

Money manager Thomas A. Wagner III, 46, hit David William Faeder Jr., 33, so hard last year that the younger man fell to the ground and cracked the back of his head open, said Faeder’s lawyer, Matthew Salimbene.

Faeder, an account executive at IDG TechNetwork, says in the court papers that the attack was “unprovoked” and “unwarranted.”

The men were arguing about a business matter at a company holiday party at The Roof lounge at the Viceroy hotel in Midtown when Wagner went berserk, Salimbene said.

But Wagner’s lawyer, Chris Clark, countered that someone else pushed Faeder during the Dec. 17, 2015, incident.

“Mr. Faeder admitted under oath that he never saw who hit him,” Clark said.

Clark said that the assault charges against Wagner were dropped and that the case was tossed after a private eye he hired provided the name of the actual assailant to the district attorney.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office could not confirm the claim because the case has been sealed.

Faeder is also suing the bar, run by the Gerber Group, claiming its staff deleted video surveillance of the brawl during a police investigation. The Gerber Group is headed by Rande Gerber, the husband of supermodel Cindy Crawford.

A rep for the bar did not return a message seeking comment. Julia Marsh
