LENA ABORT FUROR

Wishes she had one

- By JOE TACOPINO

Troublemaking “Girls” creator Lena Dunham put her foot in her mouth again — this time causing an uproar by saying she wished she had an abortion. The millennial attentionseeker recalled in a podcast last week that a recent visit to a Texas Planned Parenthood location caused her to regret that she had never gone through the difficult medical procedure herself. “Something I’ve thought about a lot is the fact that there is stigma around abortion,” Dunham said on her “Women of the Hour” podcast.

“‘I haven’t had an abortion,’ I told [a woman at the clinic]. I wanted to make it really clear to her that as much as I was going out and fighting for other women’s options, I myself had never had an abortion.”

She added: “I still haven’t had an abortion, but I wish I had.”

The actress was met with a mixture of ridicule and sarcasm on social media.

“Lena Dunham visiting fans in burn wards: “I wish someone had set *me* on fire,” Jen Ashley Wright wrote on Twitter.

Another user tweeted, “FYI an abortion is not something you ‘get to have.’ It’s an awful experience one SHOULDN’T wish for like a gift from Santa.”

Others wonder whether the 30-year-old Dunham’s comment was a bid to grab attention.

“I can’t tell if her consciously making these comments would be worse or being so out of touch she doesn’t even realize it,” tweeted Andrew Rodriguez.

Dunham has a history of making baffling statements that appear to be ploys for attention. Once, for exam- ple, she agreed that sushi was an offensive form of cultural appropriation, and complained that Giants star Odell Beckham Jr., did not hit on her at the Metropolitan Museum’s fashion gala.

Dunham also called for people to vandalize subway ads for a “Jason Bourne” movie in an effort to fight gun control.

An avid supporter of Hillary Clinton, Dunham has said she is still in mourning over the election of Donald Trump, which she blamed on female voters “so inoculated with hate for themselves.”

“It is painful on a cellular level knowing those men got what they wanted,” she wrote about Trump voters.
