Trump Makes It Official: Graduates Electoral College
In another repudiation of Hillary Clinton, more Electoral College members changed their vote from Hillary than they did for Donald Trump (“The Graduate,” Dec. 20).
Seems that, once again, the lies of the media about changing electoral votes backfired. So much for everyone saying we had to respect the results of the election. What Democrats really meant was “respect the election results if we win.” Barry Levy Hawthorne, Calif. On Monday, good American citizens assembled to execute a constitutional requirement as members of the Electoral College.
Many did so in spite of enormous pressure, up to and including death threats to themselves and their families. Yet not one prominent Democrat, including our president and Hillary, came forward to say “knock it off.”
Imagine the reaction if the same threats took place in 2008 or if members of the Tea Party behaved the same way.
Imagine if Republicans offered to pay the fines of Electoral College members who changed their vote. Bill Keegan Manahawkin, NJ
Numbers don’t lie. I’m a lifelong Democrat who wishes Hillary had won the election — but she didn’t.
The Electoral College sealed the deal for Trump. I’m not going to protest in the streets like many of my friends. Instead, I will remain at my desk, writing what I consider to be thoughtful responses to the new president’s initiatives.
That’s the best way my voice can be heard, long after the protesters return home from marching. Denny Freidenrich Laguna Beach, Calif.
The only part of the Electoral College that needs to be changed is having one delegate be able to change the votes of millions of Americans from a particular state. Such a possibility is totally ridiculous. Stephen Colasacco The Bronx Congratulations to Vladimir Putin on his Electoral College win. Hopefully, I won’t be forced to drink vodka.
