NHL: Devils lose 7th straight game

James Neal scored twice in the first period, Juuse Saros stopped 27 shots and the Predators beat the Devils 5-1 Tuesday night at Prudential Center. Sergey Kalinin spoiled Saros’ bid for his first NHL shutout with 4:49 remaining, and Cory Schneider finished with 32 saves for the Devils, who have lost seven straight.

NBA: Spurs nip Rockets in last seconds

Patty Mills hit a 3-pointer with 12.9 seconds left to lift the Spurs over the Rockets 102-100 on Tuesday night in Houston. James Harden had 31 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists for the Rockets, but his 3-point attempt bounced off the rim at the buzzer.

Blake Griffin underwent arthroscop­ic surgery to remove loose bodies from his right knee and the Clippers star will be out four to six weeks.

The Kings issued center DeMarcus Cousins a “substantia­l fine” for a recent altercatio­n with a reporter. Cousins said in a statement he chose the wrong time to confront Sacramento Bee columnist Andy Furillo about an article he wrote that referenced Cousins’ brother, Jaleel Cousins. The Bee reported the fine was for $50,000.

NCAA: Jaspers top St. Francis

Zavier Turner scored 26 points, including seven 3-pointers, and Manhattan used a strong second half to beat St. Francis Brooklyn 61-54 in Brooklyn. Glenn Sanabria scored 14 points to lead St. Francis.

In West Long Branch, N.J., Justin Robinson scored 23 of his 27 points in the second half and had seven assists and Monmouth held off Princeton 96-90 for its school-record ninth-straight win.

In Boca Raton, Fla., senior Anthony Wales gained 329 yards from scrimmage and Western Kentucky (11-3) earned a bowl victory for the third year in a row with a 51-31 victory over Memphis (8-5) in the Boca Raton Bowl.

Prosecutor­s in Minneapoli­s are reviewing a report by University of Minnesota investigat­ors on allegation­s of sexual assault by members of the Gophers football team. The prosecutor’s office said in October it had insufficie­nt evidence to charge anyone after a police investigat­ion of the September incident.

ETC.: Cardozo coach misses milestone

Ron Naclerio missed on his first attempt at history as the coach’s Benjamin Cardozo boys’ basketball team was walloped 99-79 by host John Bowne on Tuesday night in Flushing. Naclerio, trying to be come the winningest public school coach in New York State history, trails former East Hampton coach Ed Petrie, who has 755 victories. His next chance at the record will come Thursday against Springfiel­d Gardens. — Joseph Staszewski

United States women’s soccer team forward Alex Morgan has joined European champion Lyon from Orlando Pride on a six-month deal, with an option for her to play a further season.
