Love in for Trump?
DO the Beach Boys have bigger inaugural balls than Garth Brooks and Andrea Bocelli?
The icons of California surf rock have been asked to bring some good vibrations to Donald Trump’s inauguration — and they’ve yet to decline.
“They have not made a decision,” said a source close to the band, which is currently headed by original member Mike Love (inset) and operating sans co-founder Brian Wilson. Country/western star Brooks and blind tenor Bocelli both declined to perform at the celebrations of Trump’s Jan. 20 swearing-in after Hillary Clinton supporters attacked them on social media and threatened to boycott their concerts.
“They both bowed to the pressure,” one insider said. “Their phones were blowing up, and they decided it just wasn’t worth it.”
So far, Republican organizers have been able to book only teen singer Jackie Evancho and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
In September, Love told The Post’s Hardeep
Phull that he would be open to playing the January festivities if Trump were to win. “He’s been a friend for a long time,” Love said. “Does that mean I agree with everything he says? No. But . . . if we were asked [to play his inauguration], I’m sure that we would.” The Beach Boys’ publicist and a Trump spokesperson had no comment. The band has long been bipartisan, and performed for Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan.
