Michelle Obama’s Latest Gaffe

Oh, my, Michelle Obama has lost all hope (“Our hope has been dashed: Michelle,” Dec. 17). If it’s any comfort to her, not all hope is gone.

Many of us are carrying on with much hope for the future of this beloved country.

Back when President Obama was elected, I saw many people hopeful. I also tried to hope that the new president would succeed in bringing positive change, despite the fact that I didn’t vote for him.

Now a large number of Americans have spoken. We don’t want a continuati­on of the last eight years. Many of us are repulsed by the sharp left turn of the Democratic Party and wanted to end the political career of the Clintons.

Our hope lies in the election of a non-politician. While it’s true Donald Trump has said some unpleasant things, our hope is that the positives will override the negatives. After the last eight years, he has his work cut out for him. Fay Sladowsky Lawrence

I couldn’t agree with Michelle more — we really are losing hope now that President Obama is leaving office.

For eight years, I hoped he would do something, anything — he did nothing.
