GOTTI STUCK IN JAIL
No date for bail hearing
The not-so-Teflon grandson of late Mafia boss John Gotti won’t be home for Christmas, a judge ruled Thursday, keeping the mob scion locked up on his latest drug charge.
Queens Supreme Court Justice Charles LoPresto set $2 million bail for the Dapper Don’s namesake, who has been behind bars since his August arrest.
But John Gotti, 23, will have to wait for a bail-sufficiency hearing before the dough can be posted — and no date has even been set for that yet.
If he is freed, the accused prescription-drug peddler will be forced to wear an ankle bracelet and surrender his passport, the judge said.
The beefy Gotti’s dad is Peter Gotti, the son of the notorious Gambino boss who successfully evaded conviction until he was finally put away for life in 1992 when his right-hand man, Salvatore “Sammy the Bull” Gravano, ratted him out to federal prosecutors.
The elder John Gotti died of cancer in a federal prison in 2002.
The younger Gotti was arrested after cops raided his grandpa’s Howard Beach, Queens, home and allegedly discovered him with a trove of drugs and cash.
Searches of the homes and vehicles of Gotti and his associates netted about $240,000 in cash, upwards of 850 oxycodone and Xanax pills, and a number of prescription pads.
The bust came just two months after Gotti was stopped with some 200 oxycodone pills and various other drugs stuffed inside a Gucci bag he had stashed in his car console, authorities said.
Gotti has been in drug treatment while at Rikers, according to his attorney, Gerard Marrone, to help with his addiction to prescription painkillers.
Gotti and his family turned up their noses at a plea deal just two weeks ago, when a prosecutor offered him 12 years in prison and five years of postrelease supervision.
Gotti faces anywhere from 15 to 25 years to life in prison if convicted on the felony charges.
