Melo: Jax not Buss-ing to L.A.

- By MARC BERMAN

NEW ORLEANS — Carmelo Anthony, who is blamed for almost everything that goes wrong with the Knicks, joked to not pin blame on him for the Phil JacksonJeanie Buss engagement breakup.

“You want to ask me if I had anything to do with that?,’’ Anthony quipped.

Actually, Anthony was queried on whether he thought Jackson was headed to the Lakers after the season because of his relationship with the Lakers president/partowner.

“That put an end to that,’’ Anthony said, then added, “No, I never viewed it like that.’’

According to a source, Jackson and Buss originally had their falling out late in the summer, though they officially announced their breakup Tuesday on Twitter, citing geographical issues. If they don’t get back together, Jackson-to-the-Lakers likely won’t happen.

Meanwhile, Anthony got testy when asked about another round of personal rips from his former coach George Karl in a New York magazine story in which he said he cares more about his brand than winning.

“He does too,’’ Anthony snapped. “Stop. I don’t want to answer no more.’’

Karl destroyed Anthony in his upcoming memoir, calling him “a user.’’

Though Courtney Lee looked fine during shooting drills at practice Thursday, coach Jeff Hornacek stopped short of saying he would play Friday. He missed the Atlanta game after having fluid drained from his right wrist.

“He looked pretty decent,” Hornacek said. “We’ll see how it reacts [Friday]. It’s still questionable whether he plays.”

Hornacek said Kristaps Porzingis will at times guard Pelicans center Anthony Davis.
