TV shows to ring in the New Year

F the holiday season is marked by TV doldrums, then consider New Year’s Day its re-awakening. The networks are debuting plenty of programmin­g on Sunday to help you ring in 2017 (it’s like they knew that after a night of New Year’s Eve revelry, no one wants to leave the couch). Here’s a look at some highlights — because you can start that fitness resolution on Monday.

“OJ: MADE IN AMERICA”

4 p.m. on Viceland

Director Ezra Edelman’s acclaimed five-part ESPN Films documentar­y — which reexamines the OJ Simpson story through the perspectiv­e of domestic violence, celebrity culture, police brutality and the racial history of Los Angeles — gets a marathon re-airing over eight hours (with two intermissi­ons for bathroom breaks and to refill on snacks).

“THE BACHELOR: COUNTDOWN TO NICK”

8 p.m. on ABC

The network is really pumped for its newest bachelor. Ahead of Monday’s 21st season premiere, viewers get a re-introducti­on to the controvers­ial Nick Viall (taking his fourth shot at reality TV love), get to know some of the 30 women pursuing that final rose, look back on memorable Night One arrivals at the mansion and meet some babies of “Bachelor” parents.

“BROOKLYN NINE NINE”

8:30 p.m. on Fox

One-hour fall finale. Former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch guest stars as himself, the only key witness of a mass escape of convicts from a prison van in the streets of Brooklyn that sends the squad on a manhunt.

“RANSOM”

8:30 p.m. on CBS

Series premiere. Top crisis and hostage negotiator Eric Beaumont (Luke Roberts) uses his insight into human behavior to resolve the most difficult kidnap and ransom cases and save lives. The drama is inspired by real-life crisis negotiator­s Laurent Combalbert and Marwan Mery.

“SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL”

8:30 p.m. on NBC Season finale. The Green Bay Packers (9-6) visit the Detroit Lions (9-6) in a battle for the NFC North championsh­ip — and a spot in the playoffs — at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich. Lions quarterbac­k Matt Stafford will attempt to hold off Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in Detroit’s quest for their first divisional title since 1993.

“BEYOND”

9 p.m. on Freeform

Sneak preview. The millennial network airs the first hour of Monday’s two-hour series premiere, in which a young man, Holden (Burke- ly Duffield), miraculous­ly wakes up from a coma after 12 years. Only problem? He comes to with new abilities that get him caught up in a dangerous conspiracy.

“SHERLOCK”

9 p.m. on PBS

Season 4 premiere. Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatc­h) is back on British soil as Dr. Watson (Martin Freeman) and his wife, Mary (Amanda Abbington) prepare for their biggest challenge yet: becoming parents. The first of three 90-minute episodes airs Sunday.

“TO TELL THE TRUTH”

9 p.m. on ABC

Season 2 premiere. Anthony Anderson (“Black-ish”) returns to host with celebrity guests Ashley Graham, Jalen Rose, Angela Kinsey and Donald Faison on the panel. They will try to identify the creator of the Dothraki language used on “Game of Thrones,” the inventor of the hashtag and an original dancer from “Soul Train.”
