Weird BUT true

The feds aren’t feeling blue. Municipalities across New Jersey have been adding a streak of blue to the middle of double yellow lines on roadways to honor law enforcement.

But the Federal Highway Administration said, in a Dec. 8 letter to Somerset County’s Engineering Division, that such color combos violate safety regulations.

It’s not called the Sunshine State for nothing.

There was snowfall in 47 of the lower 48 states at some point this past weekend. The only state to dodge the white stuff was Florida, according to the National Operational Hydrologic Remote Sensing Center.

No good deed. . . Lamond Rushing, pastor of the Faith Worship Family Center in Kansas City, Mo., saw that Becky Kittrell’s motorized wheelchair had broken down in the cold.

Then a passing neighbor hooked Kittrell’s wheelchair to his pickup and towed her home. Rushing posted a video of the kind act online.

But the video drew mean comments directed at the overweight Kittrell, forcing Rushing to take it down.

An 85-year-old man who walks with a cane helped save one of two women trapped in an overturned, burning car in Texas.

The car was speeding when it flipped over into the front yard of Lindell Marbut in Burleson.

“I got my walking stick, and pulled it out and seen this woman’s hand sticking out and I got her and pulled her out,” Marbut said.

The other woman also made it out safely.

Snakes on a Plane: the sequel.

An Emirates Airline jet was grounded after a snake was spotted in the cargo hold, officials said on Monday.

This snake just happened to slither on board a few weeks after Samuel L. Jackson, star of “Snakes on a Plane,” visited the United Arab Emirates. The actor was honored at the Dubai International Film Festival.
