T may sound like a plea for kids to eat their veggies, but D.R.A.M.’s 2016 track “Broccoli,” featuring Lil Yachty, was actually about green pleasures of a different kind. “It’s still amusing when people say they didn’t know ‘broccoli’ is a word for marijuana,” D.R.A.M. (real name Shelley Massenburg-Smith) tells The Post.

Not that it mattered: The song peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard charts, sending the 28-year-old into the hip-hop mainstream.

Now, he’s bringing the smash single, as well as songs from his debut album, “Big Baby D.R.A.M.,” to Music Hall of Williamsburg on Friday and Bowery Ballroom on Saturday.

It wasn’t long ago that the Virigina rapper wasn’t living the high life. But D.R.A.M. (which stands for “Does Real Ass Music”) says his life changed overnight in 2015, when Beyoncé gave a shoutout to his early track “Cha Cha” on Instagram.

“I was on the Lower East Side somewhere,” he says. “I stood up on a bench and just started screaming at people.

“This dude looked like Richard Gere,” he says, “so I just shouted, ‘Hey, Richard Gere! Beyoncé likes “Cha Cha!” ’ He was so startled.”

Since “Broccoli” became a smash, D.R.A.M. admits to being partial to coat-shopping sprees.

“I like going to the stores where the snobbish folks go to, where they serve you Champagne. I drink it fast and say, ‘Bring me another one — I’m still shopping!’ ”

D.R.A.M.’s 1-year-old goldendoodle, Idnit, has become a minor celebrity since being featured on the cover of “Big Baby D.R.A.M.,” but he hasn’t been spoiled — the pup was born with baller tastes.

“As a puppy, he would not eat hard food! He’d just look at you and walk away,” he says. “You had to mix in wet food every single time! He was born bougie.”
