Feminist: I’m Pro-Life and Marching on Saturday
Aimee Murphy at The Washington Post wants the leaders of Saturday’s Women’s March on Washington to know that “it is possible to be both pro-life and a feminist.” It’s even possible “to be pro-life and a feminist and opposed to President-elect Donald Trump.” But the march’s organizers have “indicated that women like me are not welcome in their ranks.” After a Twitterstorm of protest, they removed New Wave Feminists, “a pro-life feminist group, as an official partner,” citing their own “pro-choice agenda.” This, even though the protest is billed as “bringing together people of all . . . political affiliations and backgrounds.” She plans on marching anyway, citing Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and “many others who upheld the dignity of pre-born children and fought discrimination against women.”
