Rose laments yet another late no-call by refs

- By FRED KERBER

It wasn’t what Derrick Rose said. It was more what he didn’t say about his drive to the basket. With 28.5 seconds left, Rose drove after Devin Booker put the Suns up two points with a huge 3-pointer. Rose appeared to draw contact, but there was no call.

“I am going to let you all judge that, but that has been happening my whole career,” Rose said. “[Nocalls are] something you all probably got to ask. They are probably tired of me asking them.”

➤ It has not been a great few days for the Knicks. They lost Thursday to the Wizards in the game that saw Washington assistant

Sidney Lowe come on the court and eventually get a fine from the league. So the world now knows why

Courtney Lee did not shoot on the Knicks’ final posses- sion in that one. He charged Lowe was on the court and in his ear. Lowe was fined $5,000 and the Wizards organization was hit for $15,000 by the league for the move.

“Well, there was probably some distraction there that shouldn’t have happened. That’s the way it is,” Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek said. “Sometimes, late clock, probably shoot it anyway, whether the distraction is there. Courtney felt they were right on him. So I can see him trying to take one dribble and trying to kick it out to somebody else. No fault of his.”

And the fines didn’t quite lift Lee’s spirits.

“Nah, not really because I still had an opportunity to shoot the ball and try to make a different play, and it ended up being the wrong play,” Lee said. “Those fines don’t mean anything now.” After sitting two games with a left ankle sprain, Joakim Noah started Saturday. He did not score but had 15 rebounds. Kristaps Porzingis also was back starting at power forward after dealing with an Achilles tendon issue.

“It’s feeling good. I have no issue. Not thinking about it while I’m playing, so it’s healthy,” said Porzingis, who scored 14 points.

Entering Saturday, the Knicks bench had outscored the opposing reserves in five straight games by an average of 11 points per game.

“The second unit, we just move the ball. We like to play fast, the second unit,” said point guard Brandon Jennings. “We don’t have the Melos, the D-Roses and the KPs, so we’ve got to use what we have to our advantage, and that’s just running up and down fast and moving the ball.”

That streak died as the Suns’ bench outscored the Knicks’ 30-21.
