Fordham can’t overcome early drought

Jack Gibbs and Peyton Aldridge scored 28 points apiece and combined to make 11 of 15 3-pointers, leading Davidson to an 84-66 win over Fordham in The Bronx on Saturday.

Davidson led 40-23 at the break, but the Rams closed to 58-47 midway through the second half. The Wildcats answered with back-toback 3s from Aldridge and KiShawn Pritchett, pushing the lead back to 17 and quashing the threat.

Fordham (9-12, 3-5) went scoreless for 5 ½ minutes early in the game, with Davidson scoring 14 straight points to take a 12-point lead with 12:43 left in the first half. Joseph Chartouny led the Rams with 21 points.

Canisius 78, Manhattan 64

In Buffalo, Phil Valenti and Kassius Robertson combined to score 40 points to help power Canisius past Manhattan to snap a three-game losing skid.

Fairfield 72, Marist 62

In Bridgeport, Tyler Nelson and Curtis Cobb combined for 41 points and Fairfield used a big second half to defeat Marist, ending a five-game losing streak.

Vermont 71, Stony Brook 64

In Stony Brook, Ernie Duncan scored 22 points shooting 6-for-8 from 3-point range, and Anthony Lamb and Payton Henson each scored 10 points to help Vermont beat Stony Brook to stay atop the American East Conference.

Columbia 65, Harvard 62

In Manhattan, Nate Hickman and Jeff Coby scored 13 points apiece and Columbia held on to defeat Harvard.

Luke Petrasek and Quinton Adlesh added 11 points each for the Lions (9-8, 3-1 Ivy League), who made just two of their final 12 shots and went 11-of-19 from the foul line in the second half.

Wagner 66, St. Francis 64

In Staten Island, Mike Aaman scored 19 points, Corey Henson scored nine and hit the gamewinnin­g layup, and Wagner ral- lied to beat St. Francis Brooklyn, handing the Terriers their eighth straight loss.

CCSU 61, LIU 52

In New Britain, Conn., Austin Nehls scored 17 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead Central Connecticu­t State over LIU Brooklyn.

Bryant 73, Fairleigh Dickinson 72, OT

In Smithfield, R.I., Nisre Zouzoua’s jumper with 4 seconds left gave Bryant an overtime victory over Fairleigh Dickinson.

Elon 84, Hofstra 70

In Hempstead, Brian Dawkins scored a soft left-handed layup to break a late tie, finished with a career-high 22 points and Elon defeated Hofstra.
