Weird BUT true

A sickly pet ferret in Kansas got a rare remedy — pacemaker surgery.

When Zelda, a 4-year-old ferret, was acting lethargic, she was diagnosed with a heart blockage.

So vets at Kansas State University implanted their first-ever pacemaker for a ferret. The pacemaker is expected to last 10 years so Zelda can now enjoy a normal ferret life span, says owner Carl Hobi of Olathe, Kan.

When an irate passenger recently attacked a Kansas City bus driver, another passenger jumped in — and beat off the suspect with his cane.

Elderly passenger Rodney Goldman was caught on surveillance tape yelling, “Come on! I got something else for you! Come on!”

For his heroics, Goldman received a lifetime bus pass, a thank-you signed by all KC bus drivers and two new canes — since he broke his in the beat-down. Oh, cheese! Two teens were busted for roughing up and robbing a pizza-delivery man in Hanover, Pa., cops said.

One of the alleged perpetrators was identified as — we’re not making this up — Sheldon Isaiah Cheese, 17.

In the midst of a California home burglary, cops got a call for help — on behalf of one of the burglars, police said.

The caller, believed to be an accomplice, told them Keith Schultz, 28, was stuck in a chimney in the home in Ridgecrest.

When cops arrived, they rescued the soot-covered suspect and charged him with the alleged break-in.

An Ohio woman thought cops would take her stolencar report more seriously if she called in an Amber alert.

Columbus cops did respond quickly when Jessica Pickett said her 4-year-old daughter was in the stolen Chevy Impala. But when the car was found and the story unraveled, Pickett was charged with falsification.
