B’klyn parents eyed in baby girl’s death
The death of an infant girl in Brooklyn last year has been ruled a homicide — and cops are eyeing her mother and gang-member father, who was once investigated for sexually abusing another infant, police sources told The Post Wednesday.
Nichelle Warring, just 1 month old, had a fractured skull and old fractures to her ribs when she was found unconscious in her crib in BedfordStuyvesant on June 26.
She died later that day, but it wasn’t ruled a homicide until Wednesday.
Now cops are questioning dad Hakeem Warring, 22, and the mom, Kenesha McCroskey, 20.
Warring — who is currently locked up at Rikers Island for assault — was previously probed by the Administration for Children’s Services for allegedly sexually abusing his other daughter, then also 1 month old, in August 2015, police sources said.
McCroskey called 911 when Nichelle stopped breathing in the Hancock Street apartment.
Surveillance video shows the mom leaving the apartment to go to a bodega, and Warring leaving in a hurry soon after.
Warring then returned to the home before quickly leaving again — this time with a bottle of Hen- nessey, the source said.
“Two minutes later, the mom, who has returned from the bodega, calls 911,” the source said. “That’s a red flag for us. We spoke to the mom. She was covering up for him — that’s the impression we got.”
Warring refused to speak to detectives. An order of protection barring him from visiting the home was issued four days before the baby was found unconscious. Warring allegedly violated that order twice and was arrested on June 27.
Neither he nor McCroskey has been charged in Nichelle’s death.
