Conor predicts pain for Floyd’s wee noggin if megabout is green-lit

- By MICHAEL BLAUSTEIN

Conor McGregor, at his unfiltered boasting best, said in an interview with GQ Style that his powerful left hand would be the key to winning a much-discussed boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.

“He’s got a little head on him,” McGregor said. “Honestly, my fist is bigger than his head. I sleep people. I put people unconscious. I’m stating facts. If I hit that man, his head is gonna go into the bleachers. You understand that? If I crack that little head of his, it’s gonna go clean off his shoulders and up into the bleachers.”

The loudmouthed Irishman’s taunts will just add fuel to the raging inferno of rumor that has engulfed the potential McGregor-Mayweather megabout.

On Tuesday night, the pair of boisterous self-promoters sniped at each other over social media after there were reports they had agreed to the fight.

“Although there has been several rumors circulating through media suggesting that I will have an upcoming fight, I’d like to set the record straight and state that there has been no deals made on my behalf in regards to a bout with any fighter at this time,” Mayweather wrote on Twitter.

“I am happily retired and enjoying my life. Rest assured that if any changes come about, I will be the first to let the world know!”

McGregor replied three hours later by tweeting a picture of himself in a throne with the caption, “I am in Las Vegas. Floyd has retired on my arrival.”

Beyond the fact that McGregor is a mixed martial artist and Mayweather is a pure boxer with a career 49-0 record, the biggest stumbling block for the megafight is McGregor still has four fights left on his exclusive combat sports contract with the UFC.

The UFC would have to sign off on any McGregor-Mayweather fight, and UFC president Dana White told TMZ Sports on Tuesday there was “no deal.”

Mayweather addressed that in his final salvo early Wednesday, tweeting: “Listen, Conor McGregor, if you really want to get this fight done … take care of your business with the UFC and then have your people get in touch with my people.”

White repeatedly has said a boxing match between his biggest star and Mayweather would never happen, though in January he did offer the fighters $25 million each for a boxing match. “Money” Mayweather literally laughed off the offer while calling White a “f---ing comedian.”
