In the beginning Tebow created ... a stir

-

Tim Tebow was the center of attention for about three hours on his first day in the Mets minor league camp. Here’s a look at what he did: 10:55-11:10 a.m.: Introductory news conference at Tradition Field. He mentions he already has stretched and done a core workout. 11:15 a.m.: Rides a golf cart back to minor league camp a few hundred yards away. Noon: Emerges from the minor league clubhouse and begins stretching with his fellow minor leaguers. 12:15 p.m.: Sprints in the outfield. 12:20 p.m.: Plays catch with minor league outfielder Gene Cone.

12:30 p.m.: The outfielders and infielders split up into separate fields. Tebow and his fellow outfielders make throws from left-center field to third base. 12:35 p.m.: Works with coaches on flyball drills. 12:50 p.m.: Goes through a “flip” drill, in which a coach kneels in front of the player and flips the ball up for the player to hit it.

1:00 p.m.: Enters the dugout and prepares for batting practice.

1:05-1:20 p.m.: Four rounds of batting practice. He hits a total of nine home runs, four pulled to right field and five sent the other way, on about 40 swings. During his third round, he blasts three straight pitches and four of five. During one break between rounds, he chats with Mets COO Jeff Wilpon behind the batting cage.

1:25-1:40 p.m.: Shags fly balls in the outfield as other players take batting practice. 1:42 p.m.: Helps gather supplies at the mound. 1:44 p.m.: Signs autographs and poses for photos with the 20 or so fans on site.

1:47 p.m.: Returns to the minor league clubhouse.
