Food-vendor error

The Mets threw a wild pitch trying to promote this season’s fancy new food options at Citi Field, claiming that the city’s hottest new sweet shop had agreed to open at the ballpark. The shop said otherwise. Team officials announced Wednesday that Do, as in cookie dough, had agreed to sell its trendy treats at Citi Field this spring.

The Mets even planned a tasting event later this month, at which they would have offered some of the confection­ers’ raw, “straight from the mixing bowl” cookie dough — which folks are lining up around the block for at Do’s Greenwich Village location.

But when The Post went to Do for comment, the shop balked at the idea.

“It’s jumping the gun and not technicall­y, factually correct,” a Do rep said.

“The owner has been in communicat­ions with Citi Field and is considerin­g it as an option — but to date nothing has been confirmed.”

When told that Do was crying foul over the Mets’ plans to place them in their 2017 culinary line-up, a Mets spokesman walked back the team’s earlier announceme­nt.

“Do is in conversati­on with Citi Field regarding possibilit­ies for the 2017 season and any related announceme­nt will be made at a later date,” the Amazin’s said on Thursday.

The Do rep said the shop’s 28-year-old founder, Kristen Tomlan, insisted no deal for 2017 was in place.

The shop said it’s not even committed to showing up to the Mets’ tasting event on March 23.

“They’re in communicat­ion,” the Do rep said.

If Do does end up at Citi Field, it could give Shake Shack a run for its money when it comes to the longest lines at the stadium.

Customers currently line up for hours outside Do’s 550 La Guardia Place shop.

Meanwhile, another popular New York eatery, Nicoletta Pizzeria, confirmed Thursday it will be at Citi Field in 2017, with a prime spot in the food court behind center field.

“We are very excited to be in Citi Field beginning this season, and you will find us right over by Shake Shack and Blue Smoke,” said Nicoletta spokeswoma­n Jonna Gerlich.
