TRAINING DAY

HOME COOKING

This was technically a road game for the Yankees, but the West Palm Beach area is jammed with Yankee fans and as a result the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches enjoyed its first sellout of the spring with the Yankee crowd bringing the attendance to 7,721.

CHASE FINDS A WAY

This has been a difficult spring for Chase

Headley, but he doubled to left-center to drive in the Yankees’ first two runs and later pulled off a double steal to score a run. Joe Girardi said the Yankees are going to try to run more this season when possible.

CAUGHT MY EYE

Clint Frazier picked up two singles to raise his batting average to .343, and stole a base. But he made a terrible throw home from left in the eighth, 15 feet up the line on a sacrifice fly as the ball kicked away and the runner from first moved to second. Frazier was charged with an error.

TODAY’S SCHEDULE

The West Palm Beach portion of the Yankees’ schedule comes to a close with Michael

Pineda on the mound against Bryce Harper and the Nationals at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches. Pineda is 2-0 this spring with a 1.80 ERA.
