Lawsuit at the museum
An American Museum of Natural History employee claims he was fired for protecting a co-worker from their boss’s sexual harassment.
Software engineer Tarek Ahmed interrupted supervisor Sam Tran last August as Tran allegedly had a female employee cornered during a conference, according to a Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit.
Tran “was moving in on her as though he was going to kiss her,” Ahmed claims in court papers, adding the woman “was very uncomfortable and was trying to free herself.”
Ahmed, who is seeking unspecified damages, pulled Tran away from the encounter and urged the supervisor to apologize to the woman, only to be fired a month later, he charges.
“The museum does not comment on pending legal cases, regardless of whether or not they have any merit,” Natural History spokesman Roberto Lebron said.
Tran did not respond to a message.
