Web star in Insta ‘scam’
A social-media “influencer” tasked with promoting a fraternity flick in exchange for a bit role and producer credit failed to tout the movie to his millions of followers, according to a lawsuit.
Elliot Tebele, who posts under the handle @f--kjerry, boasts 11.5 million followers on Instagram alone. He signed a $10,000 deal to advertise “Frat Star,” a “dark comedy portraying life in a fictional fraternity” across his social-media platforms, including Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, the suit says.
The six separate posts were supposed to be done in a “first class, professional manner” and created in conjunction with the producers, according to the Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit filed against Tebele last week.
Even though the producers drafted items for Tebele to post, he “neither cooperated . . . nor posted any posts,” the suit claims.
“FJERRY LLC fully performed its obligations and intends to vigorously defend itself against this accusation,” the company said in a statement.
