MEALS 'N' WEALS

Bizman: NYPD beat me

- By JULIA MARSH

The co-founder of meal-kit giant Blue Apron says he’s the victim of police brutality — and he’s suing the city for false arrest.

Matthew Wadiak (right), 39, found cops at his Manhattan Pilates studio on April 9, 2014, according to his attorney and his new Manhattan civil suit.

When Wadiak asked cops what they were doing on his Chrystie Street property, they told him in a “vulgar, combative and unprofessional manner” to “get the f--k out of here,” according to court papers.

When he threatened to file a complaint, a police officer slammed his head against a wall and a cruiser, Wadiak claims.

“They said, ‘That’s it, tough guy, we’re going to arrest you,’ ” his lawyer, Jeffrey Padilla, said.

Wadiak was then collared and taken to jail, where he spent the night, according to the lawsuit.

He only later learned cops were there investigating a burglary, Padilla told The Post.

The charges were dismissed and have been sealed, but Padilla believes his client was accused of resisting arrest.

The alleged assault left the entrepreneur with head injuries, according to court papers.

Wadiak is suing for unspecified damages. Padilla says he filed the suit just before the legal deadline because “he just doesn’t want to lay down and let it go.”

He claims his client is after “justice,” not “money,” but his suit seeks unspecified punitive damages or monetary compensation meant to punish the police officers. The lawsuit says the NYPD has a “longstanding policy, custom and history of using excessive force.”

Still, the attorney claims his client is “very pro-police” and even “has friends on the force.”

A city Law Department spokesman said, “The complaint will be reviewed.”

The Culinary Institute grad and two friends launched Blue Apron in their New York City apartments in 2012. They now employ more than 3,000 people who assemble and deliver 8 million meal kits a month to clients nationwide.

Forbes has valued the company at $2 billion.

A spokeswoman for Blue Apron said, “We are aware of the lawsuit that Matthew Wadiak filed against certain officers of the NYPD based on an incident that occurred in April 2014. Blue Apron is not a party to the litigation and has no comment on the matter.”
