Saying Farewell to O’Reilly: End of an Era at Fox News

-

Is it any wonder why Vice President Mike Pence will not dine alone with a woman other than his wife (“O’Reilly is ousted,” Business, April 20)?

I don’t know if the details of the allegations against Bill O’Reilly are true, but anyone can make an allegation against someone of power and wealth and ruin his or her career, so it’s often less financially risky to settle out of court, whether the accused is guilty or not. Dan Gardner Staten Island

“The O’Reilly Factor” is no more. I will not defend indefensible actions if they occurred. But O’Reilly should have been judged by the same standard as Bill Clinton.

MSNBC was a festival delighting over O’Reilly’s demise. Did the network delight over Clinton’s disgrace as well? Edmond Day Rotterdam

O’Reilly portrayed himself as a “culture warrior,” a “humble correspondent” — laughable characterizations for the media king who bullied his guests and used coarse and crude language to denigrate. It was quite obvious to his viewers that the man they saw on the air was not the gentleman he sought to convince us he was.

Women have come out of the woodwork over the years with the same type of sexual-harrassment allegations against him. The network had no choice but to cut the kingpin loose of his empire. Better late than never. It’s just desserts for the man with the big mouth and matching ego. Oren Spiegler Upper Saint Clair, Pa.

Doesn’t anyone find it ironic that the liberal loons who are rejoicing over O’Reilly’s demise are the very same people who still worship Bill Clinton, who was, and is, a womanizer?

Those celebrating O’Reilly’s dismissal for sexual misconduct not only are willing to completely ignore Clinton’s numerous sexual follies, adultery and perjury, but would surely vote for him again if he were allowed to run for president a third time. How’s that for leftist hypocrisy? John Scott Dumont, NJ

The demise of O’Reilly conjured up the worst display of schadenfreude I have ever seen.

The liberal media made it their lead and one cable show used its entire time slot to crucify him. Talk about kicking someone when they’re down.

Taking joy in the misfortune of others, while pretending to analyze what happened, doesn’t say much about your character. Phil Serpico Queens

If you think we’ve heard the last of O’Reilly, you’re mistaken. It’s likely he’s already started writing his next book: “Killing O’Reilly.” Armand Rose North Arlington, NJ
