Brawl over wall

President Trump on Sunday lashed out at Democrats for not supporting funding for his signature campaign pledge of building a wall on the Mexican border.

“The Democrats don’t want money from budget going to border wall despite the fact that it will stop drugs and very bad MS-13 gang members,” Trump said on Twitter.

The president is requesting $1.4 billion in funds to begin construction of the wall in a spending bill needed to keep the government operating past Friday.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Trump wouldn’t say if he would veto the bill if funding for the wall isn’t included, but confirmed his intention to build the barrier.

“My base understands the wall is going to get built, whether I have it funded here or if I get it funded shortly thereafter,” he said.
