Israel-China deal

Israel and China have signed an agreement to bring Chinese construction workers to Israel, but they reportedly will be barred from building in West Bank settlements, at China’s insistence.

Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon said Sunday the deal ensures the crews will work in areas “agreed upon by both sides that take into consideration their safety and well-being.”

Israeli media interpreted this as referring to the West Bank.
