Heartbroken gal stabs pa because of movie: cops

- By MELKORKA LICEA

A Pennsylvania woman distraught over a bad breakup said she fatally stabbed her father because a scene from the “Mummy” film trilogy instructed her to do so, authorities said.

Christina Nicassio, 27, felt like her “world was ending” early Saturday, because of a recent split with her fiancé, and began speaking irrationally in her family’s home in leafy Plum Borough, a suburb of Pittsburgh, local station WPXI reported.

Her parents tried to get her to a hospital, but she refused their help and instead plunged a knife into Dr. Anthony Nicassio’s chest at around 3:10 a.m., leaving it lodged inside, police said.

Police arrested her shortly thereafter in the Capri Court home, and she told cops she “got played by Hollywood” and had killed her dad because, “in a movie, someone who can’t love someone else, they stab their father,” the station reported.

When asked to clarify, she identified the film as the poorly reviewed 2001 horror-adventure flick, “The Mummy Returns” with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, officials said.

“I don’t know why — I thought he had to die,” she told cops, according to an affidavit cited by the Pittsburgh Post.

Nicassio, a defender on the University of Pitts- burgh’s soccer team from 2007 to 2009 and a fourtime Student-Athlete Scholar Award winner, worked as a head coach and personal trainer at the Allegheny Force Football Club, wwhere she coached a team of 16-year-old girls, loc local outlets reported. “She seemed like a p pretty nice person and kids loved her,” club president Jamie Holt told the Pittsburgh PostGazette. “It’s kind of shocking to us to wake up this morning and hear that.”

Golden-haired Nicassio and her former fiancé, who appears to be a professional boxer, frequently showcased their affections on social media.

On Aug. 9, 2016, Nicassio posted two snaps of her proposal on Facebook, picturing him on one knee and another of the pair sharing a passionate kiss on a scenic cliff-side.

And she used a flyer of her ex’s pro debut boxing match at Carnegie Music Hall Theater as her profile picture on Facebook.

Her dad, an internist and primary-care physician at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, “was a dedicated and skilled physician . . . who devoted his life to compassionate care of his patients,” according to a statement from the hospital, WPXI reported.
