Late for the dance

-

FERNANDO Garcia — the Monse designer who’s taken over Oscar de la Renta with Laura Kim — was at the American Ballet The- atre’s spring gala Monday with Blake Lively. He’d dressed the star and Nicky Hilton Rothschild for the occasion. But Lively almost missed the show. “Traffic was so bad coming to Lincoln Center,” a spy said. “Blake was desperate to meet Mark Ryden, her favorite artist, who created the sets.” (The ballet’s called “Whipped Cream,” about what happens when a boy eats too many sweets.) Paul Kasmin Gallery and ABT are also presenting an exhibition of Ryden’s work at the Metropolitan Opera House. Also at the gala: Katie Holmes, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Caroline Kennedy.
