Big deal for H’wd landmark

-

BILLIONAIRE Len Blavatnik has put a massive investment, said to be as much as $100 million, into Hollywood’s iconic Sunset Tower Hotel, to partner with the current owner, hotelier Jeff Klein. Sources exclusively tell Page Six that while many big names in Hollywood had feared the property — which houses the A-list favorite Tower Bar and Restaurant — could be sold off, Blavatnik swooped in and signed a deal with Klein to maintain and renovate the Sunset Boulevard landmark, which first opened in 1931 and is steeped in Hollywood history. An industry insider said the deal closed Tuesday, and Klein and Blavatnik plan to renovate guest rooms, the terrace and pool area this fall, while keeping the hotel open. Blavatnik’s Access Industries also owns the Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat, Faena Miami, Faena Buenos Aires and the One&Only Ocean Club Bahamas. But the Sunset Tower is his sole partnership. Blavatnik has been strengthening his ties with Hollywood. He recently bought a stake in Brett Ratner’s RatPac Entertainment and British TV-production banner Bad Wolf.
