‘Top Gun,’ take 2

Tom Cruise still has the need for speed.

After years of speculation, the actor confirmed Tuesday that a sequel to his classic 1986 jetfighter film, “Top Gun,” is in the works. “It’s true. Yeah, it’s true,” he told an Australian TV show. “It is definitely happening.”

Cruise, 54, added, with a big grin, that “Top Gun 2” is going to start filming “probably in the next year.”
