NHL: Senators top Penguins, force Game 7

Mike Hoffman scored the tiebreakin­g goal early in the third period and Craig Anderson stopped 44 shots to give the Senators a 2-1 victory over the Penguins on Tuesday night in Ottawa to force a decisive Game 7 on Thursday in the Eastern Conference Finals.

NFL: Seahawks Hall of Famer Kennedy dies

Cortez Kennedy, one of the best defensive linemen of his generation and a Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee despite rarely finding himself in the spotlight, has died at 48. Police in Orlando, Fla., said the former Seahawks star was found dead Tuesday morning. They said the circumstan­ces surroundin­g his death are unknown, but that there is nothing suspicious about it. An investigat­ion is being conducted.

The 2021 Super Bowl has been moved by the NFL from Los Angeles to Tampa. Five days after the opening of the $2.6 billion football stadium in Inglewood, Calif., was pushed back to 2020 because of constructi­on delays caused by the region’s uncommonly wet winter, league owners voted unanimousl­y Tuesday to give the February 2021 game to Tampa and have the Rams’ and Chargers’ new home host the 2022 Super Bowl.

Cowboys defensive end David Irving faces a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s performanc­e-enhancing drug policy, according to multiple reports. The NFL Network and Dallas radio station KRLD reported Irving plans to appeal, saying his use of a banned substance in a supplement with which he had a marketing deal was accidental.

MLB: Rendon, Nats clobber Mariners

Anthony Rendon homered twice and drove in five runs, Joe Ross returned from the minors to allow one run over a career high-tying eight innings, and the Nationals routed the Mariners 10-1 in Washington. Bryce Harper added his 14th homer and Jayson Werth hit his seventh.

In Boston, Xander Bogaerts had three hits and three RBIs, Dustin Pedroia had a two-run double during a fourrun sixth inning and the Red Sox beat the Rangers 11-6.

ETC.: MSU gridders in sex assault violation

Michigan State University investigat­ed an alleged sexual assault and found three football players violated campus policy, a lawyer who represents the woman who filed the complaint said. The school said federal law bars it from releasing the report or discussing the findings. The players, whose names haven’t been released, will go through a disciplina­ry process, with penalties ranging from probation to expulsion.

Former Kansas basketball player Josh Jackson must attend anger management classes, write a letter of apology and refrain from using alcohol or recreation­al drugs for a year as part of a diversion agreement arising from his confrontat­ion with a Jayhawks women’s basketball player last year.

Maria Sharapova has been awarded a wild card for the Rogers Cup in Toronto in August in her comeback from a 15month doping ban. Since her return, the former No. 1 player has used wild cards to play three events on the WTA Tour.
