Jet-setting chef Daniel Boulud shares his favorite Miami restaurants

- By HANA R. ALBERTS

D ANIEL Boulud (inset) may hail from France and live in New York, but he spends much of his time shuttling between the nine cities where he has restaurants.

When he touches down in Miami, the multi-Michelinstar chef likes to sample a mix of new and established eateries.

“[My favorites are] very eclectic. I don’t always follow every trendy restaurant,” he tells The Post. “I would rather follow those trying to be entrenched in Miami than in the international scene.”

Here, in his own words, are seven spots the 62-yearold culinary icon likes to frequent when not in the kitchen at his own DB Bistro Moderne Miami. (Boulud frequently asks his managers and chefs for advice in any given destination; his Miamibased executive chef, Clark Bowen, consulted on this list.) Bon appetit!

Coyo Taco | Mexican “You sit down and have everything: the tacos, the bowls. At the end of the night, it turns into a club. There’s a door that looks like it goes into a dirty bathroom, but it opens up and it’s all lights and music.” Coyo-Taco.com

Alter | American “There’s a lot of small plates, and the food changes with the season. I met chef Brad Kilgore during the South Beach Wine and Food Festival and was impressed he had just cooked with Alain Ducasse. I’m excited to see what’s next for him.” AlterMiami.com

Garcia’s Fish Market Seafood “Everyone knows about it, but it’s still good. The fishermen pull up in the morning and sell via stands with fish on ice. They have a covered area with a deck on the water. They do a good snapper.” GarciasMiami.com

Fooq’s Miami | Fusion “[Restaurateur] David Foulquie is a friend from New York. I just love this mix of Persian and French influences.” FooqsMiami.com

Bachour Bakery + Bistro | French “Antonio Bachour is one of the best pastry chefs in America. I love the baguettes.” BachourBB.com

La Mar | Latin “The South American scene keeps reviving itself. Gaston Acurio does Peruvian perfectly — both traditionally, with his ceviche, and with his novoAndean and Asian-fusion takes on the cuisine, plus the reinvented street food.” MandarinOriental.com/ Miami

Pinch Miami | American “Everyone likes going to Versailles for coffee, but there’s this one little spot that’s better. Their little cafecito is perfect. The food is good — it’s local — but the coffee there is not what you would expect.” PinchMiami.com
