Hillary’s Wellesley Address: She Sold Graduates Short
I have been privileged to vote in presidential elections since 1960, and I have never witnessed a losing candidate express such vitriol over the results as Hillary Clinton (“Hillary ‘wines’ to Wellesley grads,” May 27).
Hillary’s latest showing of bitterness was when she spoke to the graduates of Wellesley College, telling them to beware of those who invent their own facts, and then proceeded to do just that, stating that President Richard Nixon was impeached for obstruction of justice. Sadly, the last president to be impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice lives in her own house. Armand Rose North Arlington, NJ
Hillary’s speech to Wellesley grads was typical Clintonese: self-absorbed and low-class.
Instead of giving an inspiring message to her audience, she whined about coping with her loss, lied (Nixon was not impeached) and bashed the president.
I wonder how many of her audience members objected to her poor taste. Probably very few. Gary Layton Interlaken
Despite her defeat, Hillary has much to offer young women everywhere.
She gave the 1969 student commencement speech at her own graduation from Wellesley College, and this year she returned to deliver the commencement address at her beloved alma matter.
Clinton is an inspiration with a résumé in a class of its own. With a lot of living left to do, it’s good for her to com- mence a new chapter, complete with pomp and circumstance. JoAnn Lee Frank Clearwater, Fla.
Hillary saw the Wellesley commencement as a perfect time to whine. Not only did she complain about her loss to Trump, but she criticized him for just about everything.
Commencement addresses have changed from a chance to offer life experiences or career advice to a platform for politics.
We hear a constant barrage of negativity from top Democrats, as if they ran on a perfect platform. How is it that they still wonder why they lost? Sam King Manhattan
Hillary couldn’t beat Trump, so she beats a dead horse instead. She lost, which was her fault and no one else’s.
Can we unplug her to stop all that whining? Gerry Muir Mamaroneck
