Praising the Thought Police

More lunacy at Evergreen State College: President George Bridges says he’s “grateful” for the “passion and courage” of the student Thought Police.

It all began when biology prof Bret Weinstein said he wouldn’t go along with a “no whites on campus” day, e-mailing: “On a college campus, one’s right to speak — or to be — must never be based on skin color.”

So several dozen students stormed into his classroom to scream at him, denounce him as a racist and demand his resignation.

Last Thursday, 50 faculty urged a “disciplinary investigation,” of Weinstein for making students “targets of white supremacist backlash.” (Hmm: The students posted the now-viral YouTube video of the incident.)

At which point the bucolic Olympia, Wash., school had to plead with lefty students to stop patrolling with baseball bats.

On Friday, classes were canceled after an anonymous caller claimed to be headed with a .44 Magnum “to execute as many people on the campus as I can get a hold of.”

A sincere threat, or a stunt to make those “backlash” fears look legit? Either way, authorities by Tuesday were treating it as a false alarm and resumed classes.

And the school’s trustees seconded Bridges’ retreat, vowing to “delve further into issues of diversity and equity at Evergreen.”

Yes, this is an obscure school with a long far-left record. But this madness runs to the top of academia: Yale recently gave special graduation honors to two of the students who, in 2015, ran a pair of faculty out of town just for questioning the need for PC censorship of Halloween costumes.

The zealots will keep it up as long as administrators keep rewarding thuggery.
