Griffin’s Pathetic Blame Game

-

I was appalled when I first heard Kathy Griffin declaring herself a victim. Now I’m feeling more sympathetic (“Tears of a whiny clown,” June 3).

Griffin is a victim of the culture she’s been living in since the election. She exists in the bubble of the entertainment industry. In this toxic atmosphere, any hateful thing said about President Trump, his family or those who support him is celebrated or excused. How was poor Kathy to know her “artistic expression” would not be greeted with the same laughter and applause as Bill Maher’s incest joke?

It must have been a shock for Griffin to be condemned so viciously when others have been guilty of worse. Mark Lane Carlton Colby, Kan.

Griffin holding up a fake severed Trump head, dripping in blood, is about as sick as it can get. Why was she so surprised by the public’s reaction to her hateful humor?

Now she’s calling herself the victim, blaming the White House for the blowback to her gruesome sense of humor and saying Trump broke her.

Claiming “a bunch of old white guys” are trying to silence her is about as silly as any stand-up routine I ever witnessed.

I hope her ugly display does end her career. She needs to grow up. Sal Giarratani Boston, Mass.

THE ISSUE: Kathy Griffin’s claim that she’s been victimized by President Trump and his supporters.
