WR coach ignoring OBJ drama

- By PAUL SCHWARTZ

Adam Henry, the Giants wide receivers coach, gushed about Brandon Marshall, but had little to say about his prize pupil, Odell Beckham Jr.

“I just coach who’s here,’’ Henry said Wednesday. “When he’s here, he does great work, but I coach who’s here.’’

Beckham spent some time in the Giants’ facility earlier this offseason, but has been a no-show for the voluntary OTA practices. He is staying away because he wants a new contract, according to an ESPN report.

The Giants are adding to their offense every day during these OTAs, but Henry said he does not send updates to Beckham, who has been in California.

“I just coach who’s here,’’ Henry reiterated.

Henry was dragged unwillingly into Beckham’s drama by Hall of Fame receiver Cris Carter, who has worked with Beckham this offseason.

“The Giants receivers coach, he probably thinks he knows more football than me,” Carter told FOX Sports. “Odell’s opinion of that is a little bit different. I teach a little differently than the coaches, so he’s getting some different information from me.”

Asked for a reaction, Henry said, “I have no idea what you’re talking about, to be totally honest.’’

Asked about Beckham working out with Carter, Henry said, “I really don’t have any comment on that.’’

Henry came to the Giants last season, but he has a longstanding relationship with Beckham — he was Beckham’s position coach at LSU.

Beckham has posted videos and filled social media with reports of his workouts. Asked if he expects Beckham to be in shape the next time he shows up to work with his teammates, Henry said, “He should. I expect him to do that. When he’s here, we’ll coach him up and get him going.’’
